Classroom Interaction in the Teaching of English at a Private High School in Indonesia

This study aimed to analyze the indirect and direct talk, response initiation, silence of teacher student interaction in teaching English. research employed an exploratory mixed method. The subject this was English twenty-seven students class eleven grade Madrasah Aliyah Futuhiyyah-2 Mranggen. data collected using observation, interviews, questionnaires. talk analyzed Flanders's theory (1965), modified by (Amatari, 2015; Sharma & Tiwari, 2021). result showed that average value activities carried out teachers during learning is 62.44%. score activity 29.16%. total 91.6%. 8.33%. percentage talking classroom indicates a high tendency accept feelings praise or encouragement, lecturing, responses. implemented interactions 41,62% higher than 20,82%. initiation pay attention well sometimes give initiation. domineering caused use low. Viewed from number scores produced 62.44% 29.16%, it can be concluded students. could help evaluate their activities. Additionally, for students, findings increase participation category.
